TP152 MATT HARDENER (Epoxy Resin or Hybrid System )
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
MATTING AGENT TP-152 is a carboxyl-functional, solid acrylic resin for matting epoxy-based powder coatings and is best suited to create 60° gloss values <10. The formulated coatings demonstrate good smoothness and exceptional mechanical and chemical resistance properties. In contrast to powders made with other gloss modification technologies, those formulated with TP-152 show little or no gloss deviation when exposed to varying oven or storage temperatures.
Low gloss / low bake compositions (for as low as 125°C) are possible by curing the epoxy with Epoxy Hardener G-91 (3-6 phr) and matting with the TP-152 (8-10 phr). In this manner, the curing agent and matting agent are working independently. The epoxy curing agent level is maintained at its normal recommended dosage for curing purposes, and the TP-152 causes the matting to occur.
As with any raw material, laboratory evaluation is required for each formulation to determine the best processing method and the optimum concentration of the binder components.
